Getting started
How do I create my first transcript?
Start by creating an account. Once you are signed in, upload an audio or video file, or paste a YouTube link, and the Zipscribe Engine handles the rest. You will see real-time progress while your file is processed, and your transcript is ready to review and export when it finishes.
What audio and video formats are supported?
Zipscribe supports all major audio and video formats, including MP3, WAV, M4A, MP4, MOV, and AVI, among others. Files are automatically converted to the optimal format for processing, so in most cases you can upload whatever you have on hand.
Can I transcribe YouTube videos?
Yes. Paste a YouTube URL and Zipscribe automatically retrieves and transcribes the audio. Alongside the transcript, our Intelligence Engine can generate SEO-friendly titles, descriptions, and tags to help you publish and share the result.
Features and accuracy
How accurate are the transcriptions?
Our Intelligence Engine achieves high accuracy for clear audio, typically 95 percent or better. Accuracy can vary based on audio quality, background noise, accents, and specialized or technical terminology, so we recommend reviewing and correcting the output before you rely on it.
How long does transcription take?
Most transcriptions finish within about 5 to 10 minutes, depending on the length of your file and the current processing queue. You will receive real-time progress updates while the Zipscribe Engine works.
Can Zipscribe identify different speakers?
Yes. Zipscribe can detect and label distinct speakers in your recording, which makes interviews, meetings, and multi-person conversations much easier to read and follow.
Can Zipscribe translate my transcript?
Yes. In addition to transcribing your original audio, Zipscribe can translate the resulting text so you can share and repurpose your content across languages.
What are the SEO outputs?
For content you plan to publish, Zipscribe can generate an SEO-friendly title, description, and tags based on your transcript. These are meant as a helpful starting point that you can edit to match your voice and goals. See the full feature overview for more.
Exports
What export formats are available?
You can export your finished transcript as plain text (TXT), subtitles (SRT), or structured data (JSON). TXT is best for reading and editing, SRT is designed for captions and subtitles, and JSON is useful when you want the transcript and its metadata in a structured form for other tools.
Billing and plans
Is there a free plan?
Yes. The free plan includes 60 minutes of transcription each month, so you can try Zipscribe and handle smaller projects at no cost. When you need more, paid plans add higher monthly allowances and additional capacity.
How do paid plans work?
Paid plans are billed monthly and include a larger monthly transcription allowance measured in minutes of audio. Subscriptions renew automatically each billing period until you cancel, and you can cancel at any time from your account. For current pricing and what each plan includes, see the pricing section. Full billing terms are covered in the Zipscribe Terms of Service.
Account and data
Is my data secure?
Your files are encrypted in transit and at rest, and we retain Your Content and generated transcripts to provide the service while your account is active. You can delete individual transcripts at any time, and when you delete content or close your account we remove it from active systems within a reasonable period. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Do you use my content to train AI models?
No. We do not sell Your Content, and we do not use it to train our own models. We process your files solely to generate your results and operate the service for you.
Troubleshooting
My upload failed. What should I check?
First confirm that your file is a supported audio or video format and that it finished uploading before processing began. If a file will not upload, try a shorter or re-exported version, check your network connection, and make sure you have remaining allowance on your plan. If problems continue, reach out through the contact form and we will help.
My YouTube link will not process. What now?
Make sure the video is publicly available and that you have the right to transcribe it. Private, restricted, or unavailable videos cannot be processed. If a public link still fails, try again in a few minutes or contact us with the URL so we can look into it.
The transcript has errors. Can I fix them?
Automated transcripts can contain occasional errors, especially with noisy audio, strong accents, or specialized terminology. You can review and correct the text before exporting, and cleaner source audio generally produces better results.
